The Freixenet Group promotes a healthy challenge to encourage its collaborators to practice sports and take care of their health as a team

At the Freixenet Group, we have promoted a healthy challenge in recent months to encourage our collaborators to practice sports and take care of their health as a team. It is the “Healthy Challenge: The Olympic Torch”, a competition of steps along six stages that make up a virtual trip around the world accompanying “the torch” on its tour of Olympic cities. The action has had 60 participants from different areas of the company distributed in 10 teams. The project is organized together with our partner Biwel and comes after the success of the first edition (“Healthy Challenge: Oh Europe”) in 2019. These actions are part of the Freixenet Group Health and Well-being Program, promoted by the HR Department.

The WHO recommends taking a minimum of 10,000 steps a day to stay fit and take care of your health, and to motivate you to reach that goal, the Healthy Challenge: The Olympic Torch was proposed. In preparation for the challenge, a previous training session was offered, led by the National Athletics coach Andrés Arroyo, where the main keys and tools were given to start preparing for the challenge, improving both performance and injury prevention. In addition, at the beginning of each stage, the participants had access to healthy content and recipes.

The challenge has been received with enthusiasm and motivation among the participants, who have shown a great spirit of teamwork, self-improvement and determination: “I highlight the team experience. The communication, unity, connectivity and competitiveness have been a pleasant surprise. I had a great time until the last second of the challenge, it was very exciting”, comments a participant. Each week the goal of steps was greater, but the effort and cohesion of the teams has made it possible to overcome the challenge by far, adding together more than 5,000,000 steps.

The satisfaction of the participants endorses the success of this type of healthy activity: “I joined the Freixenet Group in April and this opportunity seemed like a way to not only be healthy but also a good way to meet more people”; “It has been a lot of fun, always looking out for colleagues to encourage them and overcome the challenge”; “That the company organizes this type of initiative seems super good to me!”

The Freixenet Group Health and Well-being Program aims to improve people’s health and well-being by promoting a healthy lifestyle. Available in person and online, this tool is available to all employees to accompany them throughout their experience in the company to discover activities and resources that promote their health and well-being. The program encompasses four main areas: MOVE (promotion of physical activity), SABOREA (promotion of healthy eating habits), EMOCIONATE (emotional well-being) and TAKE CARE (health care at different stages of life and disease prevention).
