The Freixenet Group triumphs at the prestigious Mundus Vini international competition

  • The Cavas and wines of the Freixenet and Segura Viudas brands shine at the prestigious Mundus Vini Spring Tasting 2022 competition
  • The company’s new achievements, in the form of gold and silver medals, certify the Freixenet Group’s firm commitment to the highest quality

Freixenet and Segura Viudas, emblematic brands of the Freixenet Group, world leader in quality sparkling wines, have achieved new successes at the prestigious Mundus Vini international competition.

Specifically, Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut has been awarded the gold medal at the Mundus Vini Spring Tasting 2022 edition, held in Germany. In addition, Cordon Negro has been highlighted as Best of Show Retail Market, as it is considered the best wine in the category. Likewise, Segura Viudas Brut Rosé and Freixenet Pinot Grigio Garda DOC 2021 have been awarded silver medals.

Cordon Negro Brut is one of Freixenet’s most recognized Cavas nationally and internationally. With a balanced blend of the Macabeo, Parellada and Xarel·lo grape varieties, Cordon Negro is a fruity, light and fresh Cava with fine and delicate aromas of green fruit, light tropical nuances, citrus background and notes of fresh herbs. This recognition adds to the recent gold medal received at the prestigious international contest The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships, along with the Regional and National Trophy – which means it is considered the best Cava in the world – and being recognized with the Best in Class Cava Non Vintage Brut and Best in Class Cava Magnum.

Segura Viudas Brut Rosé has also recently received important awards for the quality of its cavas worldwide. It is the only cava included in the Top 10 of the best sparkling wines in the world, recently published by the prestigious international competition Effervescents du Monde, which has also awarded a gold medal to this elegant rosé cava. Through a coupage of the Trepat, Garnacha and Pinot Noir red grape varieties, this rosé cava stands out for its freshness and its fruity aromas of raspberry, currant and pomegranate, and for its sweet touch and just the right amount of sweetness.

Freixenet Pinot Grigio, Garda D.O.C.  is an elegant white wine made from the best grapes from the picturesque Garda region of northern Italy. Pinot Grigio is bursting with fruity and floral flavors. It will also be reminiscent of subtle hints of citrus, making it a well-balanced wine.

Founded by the leading wine publisher Meininger Verlag, Mundus Vini is one of the most prestigious wine and sparkling wine competitions in the world. Each year it assesses more than 11,000 products and has a panel of 300 wine specialists from around the world as a jury.

The recognitions obtained demonstrate, once again, the Freixenet Group’s commitment to the highest quality and demand in all its products.
