Freixenet reinforces its commitment to the Still Wines Collection with the launch of a new red wine

  • The brand expands its family of Freixenet ‘SSelección Especial’ still wines one year after the successful entry into the market segment
  • This new Mediterranean red wine has been designed to satisfy the needs and tastes of consumers through a perfect balance between fruit, freshness and personality.

Freixenet, the world leader in quality sparkling wines, incorporates the new Red wine “Selección Especial” from Freixenet to its Collection of Still Wines one year after its successful launch with a white and a rose. In this sense, the brand intensifies its commitment to this line of business in the still wine segment and has designed this red wine seeking to satisfy the needs and tastes of consumers. Thus, under the slogan “A great way to take the day”, this product reflects the character of Freixenet in each glass and reinforces the brand’s Mediterranean spirit. Thanks to its versatility, it is ideal to accompany all moments of celebration. In addition, it is a vegan wine and is covered by the DO Catalunya.

Bordeaux red in color with violet reflections of medium intensity, Freixenet presents a new wine that has been created from the mixture of different grape varieties: Garnacha, Syrah and Cabarnet Suavignon. The production process is carried out with the aim of finding the perfect balance between fruit, freshness and personality. For this reason, the grapes come from selected vineyards and the harvest takes place at night and by machine to avoid high temperatures and thus control an unwanted start of fermentation. In addition, the grape is gently squeezed to obtain a much more fruity and fresh must, and ferments at low temperatures to enhance the aromas.

“The new Freixenet “Special Selection” Red wine is a product with a strong identity that stands out for its tasty taste and its fruity aromas achieved through a meticulous production process. It is perfect both for pairing and drinking it by the glass, and it is recommended to serve it at an average temperature of 14ºC. In addition, its versatility and lightness reinforces the spirit of the brand and invites all consumers to celebrate life”, explains Gabriela Rivieccio, Marketing Director of the Freixenet Group in Spain.

On the palate, the Freixenet red is a fresh and juicy wine with good acidity derived from black fruits such as blueberries, plums and cherries. In addition, it has a balsamic finish and notes of fresh Mediterranean herbs. On the nose, ripe black fruit such as cherries and blackberries are perceived, as well as a spicy touch of vanilla, caramel, liquorice and young cedar wood.

The new Freixenet red wine is also characterized by a frosted bottle with an elegant, sober and modern design, while incorporating golden details that convey the quality of the brand. The presentation of Freixenet’s “Special Selection” Red wine has been designed to align with the range of wines launched last year and made up of White and Rosé wines. These wines have been widely awarded in important national and international wine competitions such as Premis Vinari, Giroví, Bacchus or CINVE.

In the words of Pedro Ferrer, Vice President and CEO of Grupo Freixenet: “We are very proud to incorporate a new product into one of the brand’s most recent and successful lines of business. The good reception of the Freixenet Wine Collection and its evolution has pushed us to expand this range to get even closer to the tastes of our consumers, while seeking excellence and the highest quality of our products”.

The company’s focus on innovation, as well as its extensive experience and knowledge of sparkling wines, have allowed Freixenet to go a step further in the development of new products, guaranteeing the highest quality and adapting to its consumers and to a market that is constantly changing.
