World Environment Day

At Freixenet Group we are committed to environmental sustainability. We share some of our initiatives that contribute to decarbonizing our processes and combating climate change, the effects of which we are suffering with the extreme drought that the vineyards have suffered in Catalonia and especially in the Penedès since 2021.

💧 We have reduced water consumption by 35.6% since the implementation of the ISO14001 environmental management system (1999) and until 2023, thanks to the methodology of measuring, prioritizing, reducing or optimizing and investing.

🚃 We are pioneers in Spain in the intermodal transport of Cava, which combines road transport and rail transport and represents a reduction in CO2 emissions of between 59% and 75% on trips to Germany, Poland and Belgium.

🚛 We promote sustainable mobility by betting on Repsol’s new renewable fuels, produced from waste, such as used cooking oil, reducing CO2 emissions by 85% compared to the mineral-based fuel it replaces.

☀️ Installation of solar panels in the Segura Viudas winery and in our logistics warehouse, in our commitment to renewable energy, reducing energy consumption by 13% and 59% respectively.

🍇 Freixenet has obtained the Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection certification for the first time, developed by the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV), and Segura Viudas has renewed it for the fourth consecutive time.

💡 Training our collective of production employees on environment and ODS within the framework of our Cultural Transformation project, where one of the pillars is to foster a culture of curiosity and learning.
