Freixenet triumphs at The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships

We are proud to announce that Freixenet has been awarded gold and silver medals at the prestigious international competition The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships, let’s celebrate la vida! The awarded products have been our emblematic Cordón Negro and Carta Nevada. These recognitions demonstrate, once again, the high quality of Freixenet products and the effort and talent of the teams that make them possible.

The jury of the renowned British competition The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2021 has awarded a gold medal to Freixenet Cordón Negro Brut Magnum and a silver medal to Freixenet Carta Nevada Medium Dry Magnum, a new success for the two most important Freixenet products internationally.

Freixenet Cordón Negro Brut Magnum is a light cava appreciated for its great freshness and made up of a coupage with the three traditional Penedès varieties. It is a very fruity sparkling with a pale yellow colour with greenish tones, and bright. Its bubbles are abundant, fine and persistent, highly integrated. Fine and delicate aromas stand out, predominantly green fruit tones with slight nuances of ripe tropical fruit, citrus backgrounds and fresh herbs. Added to this award are those recently awarded to Cordón Negro in the International Wine Challenge, Berliner Wine Trophy or AWC Vienna.

Regarding Freixenet Carta Nevada Medium Dry Magnum, it is typical Cava of the region, formed by a proportional blend of the autochthonous varieties of the Penedès. It is fresh with a mild acidity that gives it a very special bouquet. This sparkling is yellow with golden reflections, clean, bright with medium-sized bubbles. Floral and fresh fruit aromas stand out, as well as subtle citrus aromas. Good structure in the mouth, fresh and with a soft acidity. Apart from this award, Carta Nevada has also been recognized at Expovino, Japan Wine Challenge or Berliner Wine Trophy.

The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2021 is one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world and has a jury made up of Tom Stevenson, founder and president of the competition and widely considered the greatest expert in sparkling wines worldwide; Essi Avellan MW and Simon Stockton.
