Freixenet triumphs at Effervescents du Monde

  • Gold medal for Freixenet Cordón Negro and Elyssia Gran Cuvée in this important international competition

Freixenet, emblematic brand of the Freixenet Group, world leader in quality sparkling wines, has added new successes in the prestigious international competition Effervescents du Monde. Specifically, the cavas Freixenet Cordón Negro Brut and Elyssia Gran Cuvée have received gold medals at Effervescents du Monde, one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world held in France.

Cordón Negro Brut is one of Freixenet’s most recognized products nationally and internationally. With a balanced blend of the Macabeo, Parellada and Xarel·lo varieties, Cordón Negro is a fruity, light and fresh cava with fine and delicate aromas of green fruit, light tropical nuances, citrus backgrounds and notes of fresh herbs. This recognition joins the best cava in the world and best sparkling wine in Spain (National and Regional Champion) for Cordón Negro Brut Magnum awarded by the prestigious contest the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2022.

For its part, Elyssia Gran Cuvée is a brut, modern and sweet cava designed for great lovers of Chardonnay. With a varied blend that also includes the Pinot Noir, Macabeo and Parellada varieties, it is a fine bubble cava that is very soft, fresh and creamy in the mouth. An emblematic cava from Freixenet that accumulates successes and achievements before the world’s leading wine experts and also received the gold medal this year at the Vinari and Giroví awards.

The 20th international meeting of the best sparkling wines in the world, Effervescents du Monde, organized by Forum Oenologie, was held from November 29 to December 2, 2022 at the Ravatys Castel in the Burgundy region, France. This annual event is one of the most prestigious in the world and unique in terms of scope, method and ambition. An international jury made up of more than 80 experts has evaluated the more than 480 wine samples submitted from 25 countries, awarding only 71 gold medals.

The recognitions obtained in this international competition demonstrate, once again, Freixenet Group’s commitment to the highest quality and demand in all its products.
