Cavas Freixenet has hosted the general assembly of Transprime Spanish Shippers’ Council, the Spanish association of large shipping companies and the Spanish delegation of the European Shippers’ Council (ESC), within the framework of its commitment to sustainable transport. The event was attended by more than 60 guests, including: Josep Maria Fortuny, Deputy Director General of the Transport Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya; Isaac Albert, President of Cimalsa; Simon Batlle, Director of Planning and Intermodality of Cimalsa; Joan Guasch, President of the Transprime Spanish Shippers’ Council; Jordi Espín, General Secretary of Transprime Spanish Shippers Council and Director of Strategic Relations of ESC; or representatives of the ports of Barcelona and Tarragona, as well as those responsible for Logistics and Supply Chain of some of the main companies at the state level, such as BASF, P&G, Idilia Foods or Linde, among many others. All attendees took a tour of the historic and at the same time innovative facilities of Freixenet, world leader in quality sparkling wines.
During the meeting, three presentations related to the logistics sector were offered. Cristina Duran, Director of Logistics at Grupo Freixenet, and Gloria Martí, Director of Environment and Sustainability at Grupo Freixenet, presented the company’s sustainable mobility strategy, whose main objective is to contribute to the decarbonisation of freight transport. They gave two examples of pilot tests that the company has carried out: rail transport of cava to Germany and the use of renewable biofuels in trucks together with Repsol and Serveto, in both cases reducing CO2 emissions by more than 85%.
A presentation was also offered on the new “Responsible Shipper Certification”, by Ricardo Lucientes, Collaborator of the Gesprolog Transport Area, a new certificate that distinguishes ethical shipping companies and users of transport and responsible for maintaining an ethical contracting model of transport in a collaborative framework and good practices. Finally, the conference “The acquisition of talent: added value and economic impact” was also held, by Josep del Moral, CEO of BCN Talent Logistics.
Founded in 1978, Transprime Spanish Shippers’ Council is a multi-industry professional association made up of large shipping companies with a common connection point: the logistics and supply chain debate. Being an institutional representative body, an accelerator of logistics efficiency and a benchmark logistics forum, it holds regular meetings, seminars, presentations and activities that lead to the generation of in-depth logistics knowledge based on innovation, competitiveness and continuous improvement from the unique point of view of the shipper, as the engine and essential part of the supply chain. Transprime Spanish Shippers’ Council represents shippers at three different and complementary levels: locally, nationally and internationally, being the Spanish delegation of the European Shippers’ Council (ESC) and a member of the Global Shippers’ Alliance (GSA).
