Freixenet and CE Noia, 50 years of sponsorship

Freixenet, the world leader in quality sparkling wines, and CE Noia Freixenet, a historic roller hockey club in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, have been working closely for 50 years since the cava brand began sponsoring the club in 1973. On the occasion of the commemoration of this anniversary, the traditional end-of-season dinner took place last Friday, June 30, in the gardens of the Freixenet Cellars.
During the celebration, one of the highlights was the presentation of a plaque commemorating the anniversary by Ferran Andreu, president of the club, to Pere Ferrer and Thomas Scholl, CEO and CFO of the Freixenet Group respectively, which became a testimony of the fruitful collaboration between the two organizations. The speeches highlighted the national and international achievements of the club during these 5 decades, as well as the importance of Freixenet’s support for the club at a sporting and social level in the municipality

Freixenet is a company with strong ties to Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, a town in the Alt Penedès where its emblematic cavas are located. . As a sign of its commitment to the territory, the winery group has promoted the sponsorship of various local entities, among which the CE Noia Freixenet, the oldest club of national roller hockey, stands out.
The wine company began sponsoring CE Noia Freixenet in 1973, thus establishing a collaboration that has lasted half a century and has become the longest alliance in the discipline of national roller hockey. This close relationship is a clear reflection of their desire to promote shared values between the two entities, using sport as a backbone.
Founded in 1951, CE Noia Freixenet is one of the pioneering teams of the OK Liga, the highest category of roller hockey in Spain. Among the titles won by the club during its history are the European Cup (1988/89), two Continental Cups (1988/89 – 2014/15), two CERS Cups (1997/98 – 2013/14), the European Cup Winners’ Cup (1987/88), the Catalan league (1989/90), the state league (1987/88) and two Copa del Rey (1998 – 2008). With its impressive track record, the entity transcends the limits of sporting success and embraces an integral philosophy of sport, considering it as a transforming axis of the life experience of youth.
