Freixenet Group reinforces its leadership in sustainable mobility with UNO Award for Logistics Internationalisation 2025

Freixenet Group, a world leader in sparkling wines, is taking another step forward in its commitment to sustainability and the decarbonisation of its logistics processes. The company has been recognised with the UNO Award for the Leader of Logistics Internationalisation 2025, an award that distinguishes its commitment to intermodal logistics as a strategic driver of its international expansion and its leadership in sustainable mobility.
The recognition was presented by the Logistics and Transport Business Organization (UNO) during the ceremony of the National Logistics Leaders Awards 2025, held within the framework of the Logistics & Automation fair at IFEMA-Madrid. The event was attended by the first vice-president of the CEOE and president of CEIM, Miguel Garrido, and the president of the logistics employers’ association, Francisco Aranda.
With a presence in more than 130 countries and with 85% of its production destined for export, the Freixenet Group has optimised its global operations thanks to its commitment to intermodal transport, which has allowed it to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 75% in its main European markets. In 2024, rail accounted for 100% of exports to Poland, 40% to Belgium, 22% to Germany and 13% to Sweden, with Sweden being the latest to join the project in 2024.
The company has also incorporated the use of renewable fuels in part of its fleet. Specifically, 95% of exports to Italy are made with HVO renewable fuel, which represents a reduction of up to 85% in carbon emissions compared to conventional fuels. This type of renewable fuel is also used for exports to Portugal.
In addition, the company received the Responsible Shipper Certification (CCR) in 2024, which accredits good logistics behaviour and the appropriate treatment of carriers throughout the supply chain, being the first company in the food and beverage sector to achieve it.
These initiatives are part of a comprehensive sustainability strategy aimed at minimising environmental impact, promoting responsible practices in the wine and logistics sector, and strengthening environmental and social responsibility throughout the supply chain.
“We are proud to lead a team committed to sustainability,” says Cristina Durán, Director of Logistics at Freixenet Group. “We work every day to offer efficient, environmentally friendly and socially responsible transport. This recognition drives us to continue innovating and constantly improving. An efficient, flexible and innovative logistics structure has been key to consolidating our global leadership in the Cava sector”.
With these achievements, the Freixenet Group reaffirms its position as a benchmark in good logistics practices and sustainable mobility, promoting the ecological transformation of the sector and consolidating its role as a driving force for the internationalisation of Spanish Cava.
