Freixenet Group, a pioneering company in the sector in drawing up an LGTBI+ Plan as part of its commitment to diversity and inclusion

The Freixenet Group has drawn up and approved the Plan for equality and non-discrimination of LGTBI+ people, being a pioneering company in the wine sector at the state level, promoting a plan of these characteristics within the framework of Law 4/23 and Royal Decree 10126/24. This initiative represents a sign of the company's commitment to diversity, inclusion, equal opportunities and respect for all people.

The aim of this initiative is to achieve real and effective equality for LGBTI+ people who are part of the company and to consolidate a diverse and inclusive corporate culture, where these people feel valued and respected. This measure represents an advance in the rights and visibility of the LGTBI+ collective within the company. The plan, which has been negotiated and agreed with the social representation of the workers, establishes a roadmap with concrete actions to actively promote equal treatment and opportunities. The plan's monitoring committee is parity between representatives of the company and the committee, and its members have been previously trained in LGTBI+ matters.

The Freixenet Group's LGTBI+ Plan has a duration of four years until 2029 and includes a total of 21 actions classified into different categories, which aim to consolidate a culture of continuous improvement. Among those that have already begun to be applied, the training and awareness on diversity and inclusion for all people in the company or the creation of a specific action protocol against harassment and violence against LGTBI+ people, included as an annex in the protocol against workplace harassment, stand out. Through this protocol, the company expresses zero tolerance for the concurrence throughout its organisation of behaviours constituting harassment of any kind, with special reference to the LGTBI+ collective.

"This plan reflects our desire to create a work environment based on respect, diversity and inclusion," said Cristina García, Director of People and Culture at the Freixenet Group. "We work to guarantee a safe space where all people can develop with equal opportunities, regardless of their gender, identity or sexual orientation," he added.

Freixenet Group, a company committed to diversity

The Freixenet Group encourages inclusion, promotes equality and is committed to the development of programmes and initiatives that enhance the labour and professional well-being of its employees. Thus, this initiative is in addition to a series of other actions that the company promotes in terms of inclusion and equality.

In this sense, the Freixenet Group has been the first company in the sector to have an Equality Plan, reinforcing its commitment to diversity and gender equality. This plan aims to promote the value of equality and the principle of non-discrimination as a basic pillar of the company's policy and culture. In addition, the Freixenet Group has a Code of Conduct and a Harassment Protocol agreed with the legal representation of the workers and updated in 2024, with the aim of guaranteeing a safe work environment for all employees, also in the digital environment.

On the other hand, as of January 2025, the Freixenet Group has renewed its adherence to the Diversity Charter, promoted by the Diversity Foundation and the European Commission, thus reaffirming its commitment to the ten European principles of non-discrimination and inclusion in the workplace. Among these principles are the promotion of equal opportunities, work-life balance and co-responsibility, as well as the construction of a diverse and representative workforce of society.

The company was also one of the founding partners of the Spanish Network of the United Nations Global Compact since 2002. This adhesion, a pioneer in the wine sector, reaffirms the company's commitment to the organization's ten principles and to the 2030 Agenda for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This applies to all areas of the company and covers the entire chain of employees, consumers, customers, business partners and suppliers, consolidating Freixenet as a benchmark in social and sustainable responsibility.

With this new LGTBI+ Plan, Freixenet Group reaffirms its leadership in corporate social responsibility and its commitment to an inclusive, sustainable and people-friendly business model.
