Freixenet reinforces its leadership in sustainability with the renewal of Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection and EcoVadis
Freixenet, world leader in quality sparkling wines, consolidates its commitment to the highest environmental, social and governance standards with the achievement of two fundamental milestones in its sustainability strategy.
Freixenet renews the prestigious SWfCP certification
In line with the company's commitment to caring for the environment, Freixenet has renewed the prestigious Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection (SWfCP) certification for the wine sector. This recognition, developed by the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV), is the main benchmark in sustainability for the sector and focuses on constant improvement, evaluating not only the environmental dimension, but also aspects of social, economic and governance sustainability.
It should be noted that all the company's wineries in the Penedès already have this rigorous certification. In this regard, Freixenet and Segura Viudas have renewed the seal this year and UCSA has obtained it for the first time, reaffirming that sustainability is a cross-cutting axis throughout the company's value chain.
International recognition in the EcoVadis rating
On the other hand, the company has substantially improved its performance in the EcoVadis rating, one of the most important corporate sustainability assessments worldwide. Freixenet has obtained an overall score of 76 out of 100, which places it in the 93nd percentile. This means that the brand is in the Top 7% of the best companies evaluated globally, thus achieving the silver medal.
This comprehensive evaluation analyzes several areas in which Freixenet has demonstrated outstanding performance: environment, labor practices and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. Among the strengths highlighted by the auditors is the company's comprehensive policy on most environmental issues, as well as its strong adherence to major international initiatives such as the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).
With these certifications and qualifications, Freixenet demonstrates its commitment to continuously improving its environmental, social and governance management.
