Freixenet presents its exclusive sparkling wine 'Mallorca Limited Edition'

Freixenet today writes an unprecedented chapter in its history with the global launch of Freixenet Mallorca Limited Edition, a super-premium D.O. Binissalem sparkling wine made in the heart of the island. This strategic proposal, designed to elevate the company's premium positioning internationally, was officially presented today on the island through an exclusive meeting that invites you to discover the origin, territory and sophistication of the Mediterranean lifestyle through a private visit to the vineyards where the grapes that give rise to this unique wine are grown and a sensory experience on the historic Son Moragues estate consisting of a pairing with typical Mallorcan gastronomy

The initiative was born from a close collaboration between Freixenet, which brings more than a century of mastery in sparkling winemaking, and the historic José L. Ferrer winery, based on the island since 1930. Together they have created a bridge between tradition and the avant-garde to transform a land famous for its still wines into a new and vibrant voice for high-end sparkling wines.

A collector's work inspired by the sea

With a limited production run of just 6,919 numbered bottles worldwide and a suggested retail price of €29, this collector's edition (Vintage 2025) is a declaration of love to the island. The tribute begins in its exterior design: an aquamarine glass bottle  that immediately evokes the light and purity of the Mediterranean Sea that embraces and defines the character of Mallorca.

Protected under the D.O. Binissalem, the sparkling wine is made from the native varieties Prensal or Moll (73%) and Giró Ros (27%), grown in vineyards exposed to a marked maritime influence. The Prensal or Moll grape gives the whole freshness, delicacy and notes of white fruit, while the Giró Ros brings volume, complexity and suggestive citrus and tropical nuances.

The value of time and craftsmanship

The soul of Freixenet Mallorca Limited Edition lies in respect for detail and artisanal know-how:

  • The Night Harvest: To protect the aromatic purity and natural acidity, the grapes were meticulously harvested at night between the end of August and the beginning of September.

  • Fermentation and ageing: Both varieties fermented in stainless steel tanks at 14 °C.  Subsequently, the coupage was carried out and the base wine began a second fermentation in the bottle. After careful ageing on lees, each bottle has been subjected to a manual stirring before disgorgement, giving life to a balanced sparkling wine (11% vol. and  Brut dosage) and suitable for vegans.

A sensory and gastronomic experience

The result in the glass is a wine with a pale golden colour, clean and bright, which stands out for the finesse and persistence of its bubbles. On the nose, it displays a fresh and expressive profile with notes of green apple, pear, loquat and subtle Mediterranean floral touches on a mineral background. Its smoothness and perfect acidity on the palate make it the ideal ally of contemporary haute cuisine: from a sea bass carpaccio or noble seafood such as lobster, to Asian bites with hints of wasabi or tropical desserts.

"Mallorca has a unique magnetism and an exceptional wine culture that arouses great admiration internationally. With the launch of Freixenet Mallorca Limited Edition, our purpose is not only to present a sparkling wine of exceptional quality and very limited production, but also to pay tribute to the territory, its winegrowers and its vibrant lifestyle," says Martina Obregón, Global CMO of Henkell Freixenet. This project combines our century-old mastery in the world of bubbles with the richness of the native varieties Prensal and Giró Ros. The result is a proposal of high strategic value for the brand that consolidates our firm commitment to premiumization and that begins a lasting gastronomic legacy with this extraordinary island."

A long-term commitment to the territory

This launch does not represent an ephemeral action, but the first milestone of a long-term project. Freixenet thus seals a commitment to Mallorca and its winemaking tradition to build together a lasting legacy, uniting the international prestige of the brand with the cultural richness and magnetism of one of the most desirable destinations in Europe.
